The Best Accounting and Budgeting Apps for the iPhone and iPad

I review business accounting software on my website, and I just wrote an article for the Software Advice blog about the best personal finance iPhone apps. I did some extensive research in the iTunes app store to formulate an authoritative list. I eliminated any choices that did not consistently score well. I also included information about the popularity, compatibility requirements, and cost of each app.

In this age of austerity, debt, and strict financial consequences, we can use all the help we can get in taking control of our finances. iPhone apps are flexible, easy to use, and portable; they can be really convenient for doing a quick check-up on our situation. Of course, they can’t immediately solve all our problems or put an end to our troubles, but they can definitely make it easier to transition to a smarter lifestyle.

There’s a surprisingly eclectic mix of apps in the iTunes store. I found apps ranging from the mainstream stuff, like debt payment and tax planning strategies, to more unique activities like showing children how to save money. I even found an app that tracks the donations you’ve given to various charities. Surprisingly, some of these more bizarre apps are actually quite useful. Some of the apps on the list don’t even cost anything.

You should check out my list; otherwise, I did all this work for nothing! You might find something you didn’t know you needed – it could have a really positive impact on your wallet.
