Prepaid Card Options for Students
It’s that time of year when many students will be going to university to commence their studies and as a result many of them will be reviewing their personal finances.
There are many credit cards available that are aimed at students, they often offer great interest free periods and they won’t come with a very big balance, but there is a worry that students can get carried away with the option of a credit card and as a result more students are opting for a prepaid credit card.
Prepaid credit cards are cards that allow you to load money on them and you can use them in exactly the same way as a normal credit card. Another benefit is that they are also accepted in all of the shops that normal credit cards are accepted.
There are many types of prepaid credit cards, like a Prepaid MasterCard for example and they are great for students as they allow them to manage their money without the worry of rising debts and interest as you should only put on to the card what you can afford to spend.
It is very hard for a student to get approved for a normal credit card as they will most likely have no credit history. With prepaid credit cards there is no credit check so they are ideal for students.
Students can use prepaid credit cards for budgeting their day to day spends on food and drink, or the students’ parents can use the card to give them a cash injection when they feel it’s needed.
If you do decide to use a prepaid credit card, you get all of the benefits of using a normal credit card but without the worry of overspending, for example cinema tickets and books for university may be cheaper if you buy them online, prepaid cards are ideal in this type of scenario.
